Help Is A Two Way Street Poem by Matthew Holloway

Help Is A Two Way Street

Help is a two way street
a distinct understanding
between souls of moral virtue
the old adage of you scratch my back
and I'll scratch yours, dwindles
in a post modern society
worn away with industrial precision
to which you scratch their back
and they twist a blade in yours
without a second thought
a division of multitudes
clicks, teams, packs, them and us
closing off side roads and alleyways
diverting traffic to a single lane
one system only observed
a duel raising of the index fingers
in defiance to it all
hope remains a two way street
you have my back
and I'll have yours
