Powerfully evocative, and bespeaks a sensitive understanding of the humble and not so humble concerns of ordinary people and of our past, and possesses more than a little mystical questioning that appeals strongly. Well engineered in itself by a craftsman of considerable skill. Strong imagery, convincing atmosphere and deft use of language. More very fine poetry.
This is beautiful and brings a tear to the eye. Why? There is a kind of appeal to the reader to understand. Really enjoyed this piece.
We could feel the suddeness of the spirit of effort which you discerned here in the breathtaking summary of what your pooet's mind 'saw' in the suddeness, Tony. You took us all into the crafts, skills and honour that these unsung masters worked into what you noticed around you. A fine piece and a tribute in itself to all who had gone before.....in their labours, so often purely of love.
