Head Up High Poem by Ray Hansell

Head Up High

Rating: 5.0

You and I just met
On the road of words
Composing our poems
That may go unheard

Who knows what it was
That formed this connection
We both are private people
We stay that way for our protection

So much information
For now we'll not exchange
We will keep it this way
As we have both explained

You are living your life
While I'm here living mine
Both of us still writing
Banging out the rhymes

I have opened the window
That leads to my soul
Someday my life's story
To you will be fully told

I can read the confidence
That you display in life
I wonder to myself
Are you someone's wife?

You should know that I respect
All the poems that you write
I read them in the evening
Just before I turn out the light

I know in time I will see
When you claim your place
With poems that you write
Filled with style, beauty and grace

When that time happens
Collect your accolades
After all you will have earned them
With every thing a price is paid

Always hold your head up high
Always keep reaching for the sky
As long as a dream is still alive
You should never be completely satisfied
