The tiny sparrow, frail and small,
No granary does it command,
Yet hears the Father's loving call,
And feeds daily from His hand.
It neither toils nor spins nor sows,
But flits and sings its joyful lay,
And God, who all creation knows,
Provides its portion for the day.
If God so clothes the fragile flower,
And feeds the winged ones of the air,
Who live but for a fleeting hour,
Beyond all human toil and care;
How much more precious in His sight,
Are we, His children, bought with grace?
More valued than the stars of night,
Each hair numbered in its place.
Then why should anxious thoughts arise,
Or worry cloud the weary soul?
Look up with faith to heaven's skies,
And let His perfect love make whole.
He knows our needs before we ask,
Our daily bread, our hidden plea;
No burden is too great a task,
For Him who died to set us free.
So let our hearts be calm and still,
And rest within His guiding will.
He will provide, He will fulfill,
His loving purpose for us still.
From earthly want to spirit's cry,
His grace abounds, forever true;
Our faithful God is ever nigh,
To lovingly provide for you.
