He Said Sweet Things Poem by Zyw Zywa

He Said Sweet Things

He said sweet things

to make me think
he loved me and I
was very special to him

I was so young -
available, in his eyes
and in his hands

At first sweet, so sweet
but a game
that had nothing to do with me

We shared a secret
he said, and I doubted
until I no longer knew

I hoped to escape
the familiar intimacy
I dreamed of love
