One has to be without maids to understand the value of their work and service to society. Even the emotional bond that they often create with house members is remarkable. So very often I have missed that closeness here felt in each segment of Indian society.

A wonderful poem that puts spotlight on a specific social issue that needs to be addressed! My favorite lines: Mothers in the maids made firm resolution/To uplift their families and their children/By imparting them best possible education/By investing their own optimum perspiration! A very commendable piece of work....10

Mothers in the maids made firm resolution To uplift their families and their children By imparting them best possible education By investing their own optimum perspiration. Such maids in Pune toil for prolonged hours. Their struggle to improve lot of their dears Compells every one, including strangers, To bow before those untiring mothers..... lovely and informative theme. Beautiful expression. Brilliant poem shared. Thanks for sharing.

Hats off to you for recognizing the struggle of working women and farm women. Women in every time of life and in every phase of life work hard to uplift their families. It's the men like you needed to stand by them in their struggle for recognizing their contribution to society and family. Thank you for sharing such wonderful poem.

Reading this poem on the maids of Pune, brought back old memories. I have had part of my school education in Pune. As my father was in the army, we lived in a place called Dehu Road. Yes, the maids are dedicated and work very hard to educate their children. They are healthy and strong too, because they perspire and are happy and content with their lives. The rural women of india are a symbol of sacrifice. A nice poem dedicated to the maids of Pune. i enjoyed reading it.

Very vivid images of maids' life in Pune, and a tragic flaw in culture that hinders the economic growth of majority of the population because of the caste system. India should adapt the modern world's equal treatment of all - not just the rich and favored class but also its poor who cannot afford education. Education is not merely IT skills but English, Math, Sciences, and the Arts - these is the complete education ALL people of India deserve.

I understand the plight of maids in Pune where my son had some initial training for TCS and my brother's son had worked in Tech Mahindra for more than three years. I missed the opportunity to visit Pune, the oxford of India.
