The book Future Shock written in the 1970's predicted the way jobs would change. Contracts would exist and the 'gold watch' of reliability would no longer exist. In a group of eight friends six have lost their jobs and those that haven't are stressed to the max. Your poem is an excellent narration on what is happening and how cutthroat management can be. I can see this poem has let to a lot of discussion by readers and this makes for great writing Sandra. Well done! 10 Karin
I agree to disagree with readers who disagree to agree with you on this issue Sandra...well what have i said there? it's all confusing! but one thing is certain- the attitude that 'hen whose be, i only want eggs in my basket' won't help out much! my comparison goes to employer/employee relation only You have put in a lot of thoughts in bringing out this good write on a current global issue...thanks...10
Sandra, I know the feeling only too well. Many years ago I was excess to requirements and lost my job and for four years I remained unemployed, going from one place to another and finding no work there. The problem is after a while you get fed up with getting the answer 'sorry no work here.' You end up not wanting to find employment and the seeking slowly dwindles away. It is a depressive state that I got myself into. My sympathy lies with those losing their jobs as I have been there and it is hard times. Top marks for this brave piece and thanks for sharing it with us my friend. Hugs David
i really cannot give a 'for' to this sandra...i have myself sacked two hundred people in less than two months..their union activities with 4 unions crampled the factory..i had to disintegrate them and see them off...atleast it was good for them with a VRS PACKAGE and all their graduity reaching them in time...be an individual i had no other choice and it was really a tough task...if it is a government concern their priorities should be different..i agree
Whatever I see and hear from known persons here you've brought out very well.... a painful trend has set in....a timly thought and a timely poem...thanks Sandra
Hard times due to uncertain economic revival all over the world puts all in despair! Step by step all the prevailing conditions of despair of job losses and their aftermath are well brought to the attention of all!
losing a job is a worst a man can think of when he has a family to look after a nice poem indeed! 0+++
