Every birthday brings us closer to our final birthday. A massive mandate of our mortality. Well done my friend.

Beautiful poem. In my opinion one should celebrate, because to enjoy a particular moment, one should never leave that chance. Some people are bed ridden, some may be in prolonged illness, many die before fifty itself or at much younger age, some may be handicapped, some may be lying on footpath with empty stomach and might have forgotten that they were too born, but not sure on what day! Thinking of all these one should celebrate their all their birthdays. Beautiful poem. Loved reading. Even I wrote a poem on similar pattern Party at Sixty! where one cannot have anything at the party because he is having B.P., diabetes, cholestrol etc..so all the restriction to eat anything.

These celebrations are mandatory as we are destined to be doomed beginning with early old age. Once we begin to realise that each birthday to be one year passed forward to death, there will be no present of compromises. A fine write Krishnakumar.

I think people over fifty With limbs no more hefty And eyes often misty Indulge in self pity You have drawn the attention of everyone to a stark reality.... and reality is often shocking! I invite you to read my poem- Sunset on similar thoughts! !
