I really love this one. And the last line is the real feeling behind the facade of smiles. I would leave off the word 'both.' You don't need it. Good work. Raynette
Casey, This is what poetry is all about. You express a feeling which does not belong to you alone but that can be understood by anyone who has been in a relationship - romantic or platonic. In this you seem to be celebrating a loss because it is an experience (that may sound perverse) and as such becomes a gain. I would be hard pushed to say that there is a line that stands out simply because this works as a whole. All the best Denis Joe
