Beware, tonight a vigil keep
They're in the shadows, as you sleep
Ghosts and phantoms, all that's scary
Things of which you need be wary
This night, my friend, is Halloween
When nothing is as it may seem
Spiders webs and spectral visions
Haunt the night with apparitions
Vampires lurking in the attic
Witches casting spells dramatic
Howling wolves and screeching demons
Zombies, ghouls and evil heathens
Skeletons with skulls all bony
Dripping blood and mouths so foamy
Wraiths a-dancing in the moonlight
Laughing, crying, what a grim sight
Jack-o'-Lanterns, apple bobbing
Time for fun with hearts a-throbbing
Children dressed in outfits scary
Pointy hats and wigs all hairy
Trick-or-treating, sweets and goodies
Kids stood at your door in hoodies
Spooky masks hide faces smiling
Into buckets chocs are piling
All the ghosts are getting sleepy
Vampires too are feeling weepy
Ghouls and phantoms bedtime calling
All asleep now, ‘til the morning

A shame you posted this after Halloween, Valerie, this is a great poem - I'll enjoy it again next year. Happy Post-Halloween!
