There has been organized abuse of the word Pacifism by people claiming to be pacifists (not in your case I am sure) so it is certainly not an exception to having been used for organized hatred. There seems to be a tendency in politics and religion for people who are like minded to come together and this is often because these people share the same likes and unfortunately dislikes.
