i must be aging quickly. i did not recall reading before today, but i left a previous comment! yes, abstract. and i am not a 'haiku writer', but i wondered about the syllable count. i looked it up and here is one thing i found: Haiku is a traditional form of Japanese poetry. Haiku poems consist of 3 lines. The first and last lines of a Haiku have 5 syllables and the middle line has 7 syllables. The lines rarely rhyme. i count: 6 9 6 line 1..... A/ de/sign/ hov/er/ing ........6 syllables line 2.... Choos/es/ a /wood/ of/ woods/ and/ oth/ers, ...9 syllables line 3... Weaves/ a/ door/ as/ po/ets.....at least 6 syllables; i'm not always sure when there is an s added at the end of some words, as in Weaves. some poets may disagree with what i found online and with my count. bri :) i tend to find strict rules of structure for a poem to be too confining for my taste(s) .
