Haiku 12 Poem by Mark Heathcote

Haiku 12

The Judean Desert
the oldest seed to germinate
tears of absence

fruitless almond trees
like gorgeous firework display's
moments unfractured

enchanted forests
leanings to a distant past
destiny awaits

a blue jay's plumage
shades of saturated blue
shards of heaven's hue

knowledge wide-ranging
trust a branch of thought - unschooled
capable of flight - you

natural cycles
court new beginnings and ends
chess pieces battling

ecosystems chard
green shoots on standby now to burst
follies and flowers

charcoal smoke - departs
the wind chases circles, Grey
life comes and then goes

articulated
dangling from a wet paintbrush
our words are lilies

a spun spider's web
such lifeless complexity
hiding in one breath

ones deceased ashes
are the weight of a house brick
it's time to rebuild

songs across the ages
our words are spider lilies
petticoat laces
