GURU TEGH BAHADUR'S MARTYRDOM DAY
(24th November)
tyrant Aurangzeb
none more cruel to Hindus
In the World Wide Web!
all their misery, to him, was due
no wonder, him, we still boo
conversion was forced
or else death, a certainty;
there was no remorse.
the distressed deserved pity
as they prayed to all deities
a beacon of light
Sikh Guru Tegh Bahadur
heard of Hindus plight.
the answer he was quite sure
' tolerance ', simple and pure
' Faith is one's own choice
to convert by force is crime
listen to people's voice;
you have no reason or rhyme
to kill; let bells of love chime '
the pious Guru
met and gave piece of his mind
but the king didn't rue;
' one Hindu to behead, you find;
if you do, then you are kind! '
the Guru unmoved
offered: ' behead me if you want;
let Hindus be loved '
Aurangzeb, with respect, scant
beheaded the Guru, in an instant
Guru Tegh Bahadur
stood up for Hindus, rock like
like none else before;
on this day, a lamp we shall light
let tolerance, always, shine bright!
