You do not have to be the same religion as Nanak Dev to appreciate his teachings on God and mankind. The guru's teaching is eternal and universal.

Guru Nanak Dev is respected by all irrespective of their faith because of his views on oneness of God, equality of all human beings and opposition to all kinds of superstition. Thanks, Michael.

And showed that God is one He is omnipresent He is Almighty! Guru Nanak - a great saint whose teachings are invaluable. When his verses are sung, they are so melodious and so full of philosophical interpretations. A wonderful poem, Rajnish ji. Full Vote

Baba Guru Nanak was a great spiritual leader, 'God created light of which all the beings were born And from this light, the universe came into being so who is good and who is bad'..............A nice gratitude to this sufi saint.

each and every individual... equal rajnish, this past week i sat with colleagues at lunch, and guru nanak came into our conversation. i knew of, but little, of him. a math teacher at the school, from india originally, explained for me and others present that the essence of the guru's message was what i have quoted above from your poem. it makes me think of jesus' words from matthew 23 in the new testament. in the passage he is speaking to his disciples. here is how it reads in the message rendering of it: Don't let people... put you on a pedestal... You have a single Teacher, and you are all classmates. Don't set people up as experts over your life, letting them tell you what to do. Save that authority for God; let him tell you what to do... this, it seems to me, echoes the opening chapter of the bible, that humankind, male and female, are created in God's image. it is good to see this equality affirmed. thank you. glen kappy

Thank you very much, Glen, for sharing your views on the subject and putting up a wonderful critique on the poem. The analogy in the words of great Spiritual Masters should inspire all human beings to co-exist in the blissful world of equality, love and compassion.

A glowing tribute to a great spiritual leader who believed in one God and the fraternity of the entire mankind! If we can treat everyone as equal, there would be no power politics or exploitation! By reviving the memories of this Sikh religious founder, you are trying to rekindle some of the basic human values now fast disappearing! Great job!
