A famous line from Saint Kabir says:
"Guru bin Gyaan Kahaan"?
‘Where is knowledge without a Guru? '
There is no right knowledge without a Guru,
There is no right direction without a Guru.
Guru is the means of knowledge, wisdom and Self-Realisation!
With out Guru we can't acquire right knowledge. In Shreemad Bhagabad it has been said 'Guru na hele he arjuna, kahin paibu sada gyana.'which is exactly said by Saint Kabir. You have taken here a nice step for readers. Thank you very much.
So defined a guru is the living truth. Poets may also reveal truths never thought of, thus changing lives.
I'm reminded of one more couplet by Saint Kabir on the same subject: Guru gobind dou khade, kake laagoon paaye Balihaari guru aapne, gobind diyo bataaye
This came to me as a pleasant surprise. I have often recited these lines as a part of a very popular bhajan. You have beautifully recalled and translated it for the benefit of all readers. Thanks, Geeta ji.

I would like to translate this poem
Guru’s position is held way above God, because “There is no right knowledge without Guru”. And Guru does not see the caste creed or color of the skin of his disciple. That is why, the Guru of Asuras, Shukraacharya readily accepted Kacha, son of Devaguru Brihaspati, as his disciple, in spite of the fact that Devas and Asuras were at war.
