Teachers are always a venerable sort,
Happy that I belong to that ‘special' lot,
Instilling in young ones -
newer insights gleaned,

I don't know where I presently stand, Nor know how my students rate me, Though often floundered or failed to act, In the manner I ever so longed to do, I would rather be a TEACHER all my life, A ‘guru' out and out, from hilt to heel! ....... outstanding conceptualization. A beautiful poem is well executed. Thank you dear madam for sharing this gem.

Though seldom seen in due deference/And the integrity sometimes called to question/Still with pride, would I wear the mantle/Of a ‘Guru' for all eyes to see! ......................I can't express through words the way you have expressed yourself as a teacher! You are really a great teacher which is very much reflected in your poetry! I too feel proud of being a teacher! A great poem!

Thank you so much for taking your time off to read this poem! I believe that a teacher, apart from being just a teacher should also be a guide, counsellor, friend and torch bearer to a student. Beyond the prescribed syllabus, he should also impart lessons of life! Sometimes, he/she may have bitter experiences, but a good teacher will always remain a sweet memory in the mind of their students! That way we are the most blessed group!

Guru plays a great role in removing the darkness from an ignorant mind. In India, specially, the Gurus are respected and loved by the devoted students. I agree, totally, dear Valsa, that to be a teacher is the most noble profession. Kudos to a bright and wise teacher! Loved the poem.Full 10+++

Care not about them rating your job. It is just enough to be a teacher and so be proud of that. Teachers are the tools of change in any community. They are the engineers of human behavior. So behind any successful man or woman there is/was a successful teacher. So we need to keep with it. Great poem.

I'm sure you are the best guru anyone can have. A very well-worded poem on the power of mentoring. A guru or mentor deserves a high place in society for he or she schools minds n lays down the fabric of a society. An inspiring write.

We forget a lot of people whose path we have crossed, but remembering our teachers we are never at a loss. I'm not sure how your students rate you but I rate you a 10

Marvelous! precise and complete. there is no more word- thought, action, or deed that could be added to this beautiful poem. It is easy to act those roles to one child. But when the Teacher is responsible for the entire class or other students, then only a few teachers who can feel from the heart can be exactly what you have written in such humble and dutiful lines. You are one of them with all those qualities..

Kabir Das said: Guru Govinda dou khade kake lagoon Paey- -Balihari guru ke aapne Govinda deo batae. The teacher and God both are standing before me, I am a bit confusedas to which feet I should touch, I opt for the teacher as it was he who made me conscious of God.
