Guardian's Of The City Poem by Ray Hansell

Guardian's Of The City

Today I got to see
People from my past
Who've given me great memories
That will forever last

We were the guardian's of the city
Working around the clock
We were the one's who held the key
Able to open any lock

Our work days were split in three's
Mid-night, swing and day shift
We worked four days with three days off
Time off would give us a great lift

But seeing all of them again
Was really quite uplifting
It was in that room that I realized
Exactly what I had been missing

The comaradery that I felt
Brought it all back to me
Now our past stood before us
For all of us to see

Our hair is a lot greyer
Our waist lines a little bigger
Proud to say no one here today
Ever had to pull the trigger

The years will come and we'll go
As time takes us each one by one
We were the guardian's of the city
I believe that we did a job that was well done
