Growing Up Poem by Ray Hansell

Growing Up

Here we are reminiscing
About our childhood that we're missing
Back in the day we had no cares
Mommy and Daddy were always there
To help ease all of the pain
Life to us was just a game
All we had to worry about
Was going to school and making out
No worry about taxes or bills
All we were doing, was seeking thrills
Life was easy and so laid back
It didn't matter if we lost track
Of the time or the day
All we wanted to do was play
Soon things changed so very fast
Before we knew it our childhood had passed
Now grown up and adults
The reality has been felt
No longer loose and carefree
The world has changed so much for me
But I know I'm not alone
That's just how it is when your grown
Childhood's vanish over time
But the memories forever shine
