Nice observational eye of a long-together couple. Yes, there is so much involved in making that scene real. God, hard work, sacrifice, and surrender. Nicely written portrait. Thanks.

A wonderful journey of two lovers who have attained a better understanding of each other over the years has been portrayed with rare finesse by the poet. Thank you, Perry. This is now a favourite of mine.

Congratulations for this being chosen Poem of the Day, we are all being given a gift here through this poem. I read several comments below about seeing a couple still in love as they walk down the street with their walker and cane. I really think we could see more examples of this if we but open our eyes. My church has dozens of them- still in tender love after all these years. It is amusing to see teenagers look at them and think how weird they are to want to kiss each other's lips or cheeks, to cuddle together on a bench, to hold each other's hands.... hopefully these kids will learn and find someone to grow old with. Excellent topic, Perry, and excellent write..

Filled with the joy of lovers tears - you could have stopped there. Still pretty darn good. These couples are rare however. IMO of course.

To understand every piece of each other, to not expect anything of one another and to just want to be with the other is so incredibly special and hard to find. Thank You Perry

To see two lives so wrapped together Two hearts merged and so aligned Where thoughts are shared before they're spoken When mind and soul are intertwined Great! ! ! !

What a lovely message this beautiful poem has that seems to be easily lost in most poems about love - the surrender and sacrifice that is part and parcel of all wonderful relationships that survive the test of time. Well done!
