I have a friend in an end stage of a deadly illness. I now grieve, believing I know something about what will happen to her. But of course, none of us knows. The grief I feel for the possibility of losing her is what this poem means to me right now. In another year I might feel and interpret it differently.

in that race what makes the different is our relation to the hole in our ship some make it large and some cover your back and that make us all succeeded in that race well done
