On the other hand, the poet with one great poem had a brush with glory and probably touched millions of hearts with that one poem---what a wonderful thing that would be!
I agree. In fact, greatness can be a bit transitory. There have been poems that were great classics and have remained so, but that one great poem was all that poet wrote.
