Grapes & Jackals Poem by Freeyad Ibrahim

Grapes & Jackals

By Freeyad Ibrahim

Christianity and Islam are used in a hypocritical measures
Clerics deprive people of worldly pleasures
Because due to their social status,
they themselves are deprived of these pleasures
They die with jealousy and envy
at the sight of someone
who wants to live a free life
and enjoy the joys and pleasures of life

So thay prevent the public
of what they themselves could not do in life

What do you say about the crippled
who hates dancers?

And the bull that counts the deer in the jungle
among the vagrant creatures?

And about the old snake
that is unable to remove its skin,
So, it disgraces other snakes,
their Nakedness and Shamelessness?

And about the one who goes early to the wedding,
So that when he eats too much,
he returns from the wedding saying
(All the feasts are a violation of the law,
and all those who participate in them
Defamating the law?)

Are not all the bunches of grapes
hanging high out of reach
bitter in the religion of the jackals?
and sour in the mouth of the Apes!
