Grandma's Wise Words Poem by Marlene Rashidi

Grandma's Wise Words

'Marlene, don't let that fool of a boy ruin your dreams
you got the extremes, show him you're supreme.'

I remember when I was so young and in love with this boy,
who was always
controlling my life. I lost respect
for everyone close by,
because I lived the wildlife.
Even if I was grandma's step-grandchild,
she'd always smile when she saw me,
because she loved me. grandma's wise words made me
rise up and away from the dark shadows that held me
back from the light. She would always surprise me with the unpredictable moves.

'Stay on the right path young beauty,
follow not the unfaithful ones.'
she'd always tell me.
When I went to school the only words that was more
meaningful to me was grandma's words,
'Fight for the truth young one,
be strong and never fail your faithfulness.'
she'd say. Her words touched my heart till it ached,
I miss her, may her soul rest in peace.

Her words were like my shining light,
they will always stand forever in my life,
'Lay your burdens in God's hands and she shall carry them.'
said late Bella Marie Williams; my darling grandma.
May her love be my guidance. May her wise words be my
sword to mine enemies. I love thy laws dear Grandma. I long to hear your tender voice once more and o'er.
