Very aptly worded poem, dear Hank! Very touching poem. Grandprents I cherish them too, especially grandfather.5 Stars fullest on Top!
You said it very well sir. Yes grandparents hold special place in our lives. When parents ate busy earning they give their time and becomes our friends. They teach us life's some of the best lessons. Well penned.
Nice! But did he teach you to smoke a pipe? Do you have any of his personal belongings? I did not know my grandparents, one having died before my parents married, and one soon after i was born? bri ; : )
Ok, ok! Hank, I finally decided that if you only have less than 300 poems listed I would scroll down till i found it: Grandfather And Me. # 41 on your list today. bri ;) (cont.)
I think the most important thing your grandfather taught you was, 'How to love and/ How to be kind'. We can learn so much from our grandfathers, I find.
The world's best place to spend my childhood was my grandpa's lap. I feel so much comfort and peace and security. A nice poem indeed. Thanks for sharing.10+++++
The picture adds a lot to the poem. You actually look a lot like your grandfather! (My parents made me wear those bib overalls when I was a kid, too!)
Loved your loving poem about Gpa. He was a quiet soul and never raised his voice. Mostly smiled and nodded his head as we kids talked a blue streak. His laugh was hearty and kind of mischievous. I remember he loved to tease Gma and she would be irritated with it. Great hardworking people that loved one another and lived with honor.
U R SO KIND IN COMMENTS CAN YOU PLEASE EVALUATE MY BEST POEM MOM'S SMILES
Loved this loving poem about our Gpa. He loved to play checkers and would be so funny to teach us. He would let us jump his checkers and just when we'd think we were ahead he would jump our checkers and win in the end. He would laugh so sweetly after kissing his cheek and laugh his happy laugh after watching the toy that we bought him of an old man after drinking a shot that made smoke come out of his ears. Silly, fun. kind and loving.
Very nice, Hank! Next month at the poetry meeting I will share my poem, MY AMAZING GRANDPA. I was going to share it this month, but, as you know, the meeting was cancelled. I can't post it on Poem Hunter because it is entered in two contests, and all the poems in those contests have to be unpublished.
Great poem, and picture. I still occasionally wear bib overalls, they're so comfortable!
