One of my favourite artists of the 18th - 19th century, Goya's black paintings are some of the most disturbing visual images to haunt and disturb my retina, with his frank misanthropic observations of the human condition. Witches Sabbath is a painting I consistently find myself analyzing the details while simultaneously repulsed by the horror that I see. This poem makes me remember what it is like to look at his work, its stark and slightly cryptic, but always a wonderful to look and read.

This brought me much nostalgia... My first ever art book my parents bought me for Xmas at 10 was goya... I loved his pictures and studied them for many hours. His loose structure seemed to catch glimpses of moments rather than defined moments. The firing line was my absolute favourite as the mans fear on his face remains imbedded in my mind. A great artist, remembered by a great poet.Your words capture some of the same atmosphere by loosely covering his life and mood of the times.., bravo. Karen
