Goodbyes Are Never Easy Poem by O. A.

Goodbyes Are Never Easy

Goodbyes Are Never Easy

Au Revoir

We were once inseparable
Like two runaway freight trains
Racing to their intersecting Deaths
But we both jumped off the tracks
And collided in the heart of downtown
You on a barstool acting all oh so cool
And me sipping on a Mojito playing pool
until you told me you were quiting school.

I tried to warn you...
Don't do that to yourself now
But you were dared by the in-crowd
To drop out, and move on down South
You said, you wanted to be in movies, acting
And I said, you should finish your senior year first
In case the world didn't see you as a new James Dean
but you were adamant in getting great reviews
and wanted to chase your dreams...

So, down you went
Faster than a Bohemian in a liquor store
Down to Hollywood to try your luck and more
You were the Golden Child of this other countryside
But couldn't stand being made an extra with your smile;
It was a recipe for dissaster, and I saw it a mile away...
I came looking for you, to try and bring you back
but when I arrived in L.A. I heard you drowned
in a lake all by yourself, you'd been drinking
and had no more smiles left to give out...
                                                          to give out...
                                                          to give out...

Goodbyes are never easy...
Especially when you can't read
The lips of the one you love
And kiss their smiling mouth...

O.A.
