Goodbye Mr President Poem by Paul Buttigieg

Goodbye Mr President

Slipping now the mind fades but for a wry smile
Awakening the facts of life about age creeping
Up on me when I least expected to be concerned
But bothered the inner mind whilst I dreamt of sleeping

At mind I had a plan to lead a vibrant USA
A full head of ideas a glorious winning fist pump
When the crowd voted non-sensibly agin' my debate
Resurrecting a manic dangerously aggressive Mr Trump

Least happy is my heart and head of such relegation
Driving my disappointment that age is legitimate reason
To call a day on my leadership of the free world
My own party non-democratically exposed for treason

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
It is such a shame to see a President outed based only upon aging.
