What you have said of 2018 is exactly how I would like to describe the year that has just gone by! Indeed it was a year of mixed fortunes with pain weighing more on the balance. There were unprecedented natural calamities and loss of people and property! More than anything, it is painful to watch the decadence of values and increasing violence in the name of ideologies and religion! Hope 2019 will give us better fortunes! May the year be one of blessing for you!

'May the year be one of blessing for you! ' - Thank you Valsa, I hold similar prayers in my heart for you too. The year just gone by, was not so good for me, and I also know about the natural calamity that befell your land. 'Hope,2019 will give us better fortunes! ' - Yes, I hope so too! Thanks for the comment, much obliged.

We have experienced both pain and joy in 2018. This has deeply impacted human life. We expect more peace and love in 2019. A nice and timely poem is excellently penned with wonderful expression. Thank you very much for sharing this master piece of poem.

Thanks for quoting from my poem, @The Poet Poet. I've just read the first of the two poems you've mentioned above, and left a comment there.

A well-crafted poem indeed. Your anguish with the state of affairs at the political level is quite understandable. We as common people can only hope and pray that better sense prevails.

Thank you, @Jasbir Chatterjee, for reading my poem and kindly commenting on it. 'We as common people can only hope and pray that better sense prevails' - yes, you are right to some extent, but unless the people raise their voice collectively to be able to exercise their constitutional right, the infringement will go on! I've read your poem on 2018, that's a nice piece too.
