Going It Alone Poem by Deluke Muwanigwa

Going It Alone

Rating: 5.0

Going it alone

On the meander of life
I cross paths with many
Some walking lock step
others diverging in different directions

Some helpful
Some nonchalant
Some antagonistic
Others deceptive

It is risky reading road signs
The cunning altering them in my sleep
It's even riskier asking for directions
some demanding my ethnicity
before leading me astray

It seems global positioning systems get spoofed
And i, spooked to end at cemeteries
the hint never escaping me
it's 'Go away! ' done smartly
and it's well understood.

It has sunk in my mind
i am just one among many
there are some, ostensibly, prepared to help me
i am ready, though, going it alone.
