God You Displayed Poem by Gary James Smith

God You Displayed

God You Displayed

God you displayed the gamut of life
From Heaven to earth come down
Born of a virgin in Bethlehem
To the wearing of a painful thorned crown
Yet love with a divine consistency
Incapable of anything less
You gave of Yourself for our benefit
And became our Resurrection to bless

O yes there was blood....but innocence
Poured from that spear pierced side
As well as the droppings from his hands and feet
Yet we... hang onto our pride
If God could humble Himself as a man
Then my humbling should occur too
For there on the Cross of Calvary
Creation's Maker gave creation a view

Look and live my brother live
Who are dead in trespasses and sin
Have you no honor for the Lord of life
Has darkness done its capturing
Flee to the Saviour with a repentant heart
He will not turn you away
Better to make sure on this side of Heaven
Then to be robbed of the Light of day

Hallelujah what a Saviour!
