God Is My Refuge Poem by Shaila Touchton

God Is My Refuge

In times of trouble, I will call
Upon the Lord, who hears my call
He is my refuge, my strong tower
My shield and buckler, in every hour

His angels watch over me, day and night
Guarding my steps, keeping me in sight
Their wings of protection, spread wide and strong
A shield of defense, where I can belong

The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my might
My savior, who keeps me from the dark of night
His word is a lamp, that shines on my way
Guiding me safe, through the danger and dismay

So I will trust in Him, and not be afraid
For His protection surrounds me, like a shield and shade
He is my hiding place, my safe and secret place
Where I can rest secure, in His protecting embrace.
