Give Me Blood, I Will Get You Freedom

young Bose didn't like the Englishmen
who.much abused Indians then

once he hit a.Brit.Professor
then,in jail, with grit, he.served

his rich dad sent him to London
wanting.ICS, to be.done

Bose passed but soon enough.resigned
to fight for freedom, then.he signed
by joining.Gandhi's Congress
where rising from ranks, he.impressed

'give me blood, will get your freedom'
martial mind who don't see are dumb*

for Congress' Calcutta session
an opportunity, Bose didn't shun

smart dress and boots for volunteers
march-past left Calcuttans.endeared

but pacifist Gandhis^.dislike
as a friendly gesture, didn't strike

Bose soon became the Party's chief
rebelling.against Gandhi's brief

for militant style, he got fired
as Gandhi and Nehru conspired

by Brits kept.under house arrest
Second World War was their big test

Britain's war got Gandhi's.support
but against them was set Bose's heart

Netaji was a thorn in British flesh
as with their foes he was enmeshed

hoodwinking Britain, Bose escaped
with a plan, that can work, he hoped

'join Nazis, oust the British
from India ', that was Bose's wish

to meet Hitler, Bose reached Berlin
Nazi decline, had then begun

an Indian legion put.in place
under Bose, that leftBritain dazed

sadly it didn't work, as Bose wished
German defeat, could not be missed

Bose was shipped out by.submarine
to Far East, can you imagine?

Netaji's hopes, on Japs, pinned
with.his INA, can he win?

But.the Japs lost after the bomb
by failed Bose plan, all were benumbed

in an air crash, they said Bose died
many thought they were told a lie

fearing Bose might by piracy,
usurp, foes hatched.conspiracy?

with all.dead, truth remains hidden
every probe has reached a dead end

Bose admired Vivekananda
all faiths gave him much.ananda

his fauj had women and muslims
ready to die along with him

sole aim was to kick out the Brits
his 'Jai Hind' signalled nation's grit

his early.death.left a vacuum
power, lesser men, soon assumed

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Jan 23 is Netaji Subash Chandra Bose's birthday
Bose was one of the top freedom fighters. He thought that the British will not leave by peaceful means. He also thought that the World War II, Britainwill be preoccupied, and the opportunity to strike will be ripe. He disagreed with Gandhi and Nehru and opposed Britain in World War. He was considered a war criminal by the British.
But the Indians held him in high regard. Sadly he died a premature death, supposedly in an aircrash in Taiwan.
dumb- means stupid Cambridge Dictionary
^- Gandhi called that military like marchpast, a ' Bertram Mills circus'. Bengalees were furious.
Bertram Mills operated a circus company in London with wild animals on show during early 20th century.
