come on people get over it, he means he wished he was god if what SHE is reading has to do with god, he wishes she knew him or read about him
I see most women here didn't understand this poem..didn't 'get it'. Ask your husband / boyfriend (should he be blessed with a brain lol) - Especially for 'Angel'; I am God ! ! !

CB says 'I am God' because to him we are all God. So is she, for that matter. That's why he writes about us as we are without judgment or distortion. She moves to his symphony because she is he, which is why he can't escape her being. CB saw it right where, stripped of pretense, we are God and all that there is.
Maybe she had to go potty. Those Russian Orthodox services can go on for a few hours!
I think he says 'I am God' because he is looking in from the outside on her like God would look down on us hypothetically. He feels like he is controlling her too because she is moving to the rythem of His music. This set against the scene of church letting out has made him think about what he is viewing in a religious sense....So essentially he is tying God into what is going on in front of him because seeing the church put God in his subconcious thoughts and he feels he has power over her because she is moving to his beat so therefore he is like God. I hope that makes sense....
Why the f-ck are you asking Bukowski a question? His is God and God is dead!
Is she reading a note about you? or is the final line just illustrating your exhilaration
XD its just does not make any sence without this line read it one more time
I am God? OK maybe it's just late and my brain is dysfunctional, but I.DONT.GET.IT. o.o love the rest of the poem -_-
A startling and dazzling poem. A coincidence that her dancing movements synchronize with the symphony. She is dark and beautiful, somehow biblical. ' she is reading about God./ I am God'. An unexpected ending indeed.
