Ghosts Of Autumn Poem by Richard D Remler

Ghosts Of Autumn

.......

Tonight the stars have shied away
Behind a canopy of gray,

And a breath of frost drifts through the trees,
To play within the gentle breeze.

There the scarlet grasses bend and sway
As nature sends a gust their way,

And the naked birch cricks aged and bowed,
Protesting mother nature's ode.

As though trapped within her soliloquy
Where her quiet whispers used to be.

The shades of Winter ebb and grow,
Tossing fragile flakes like snow

That melt into silvered drops of dew
To kiss the scarlet grasses blue,

As the ghosts of Autumn fade away
Underneath that canopy of gray
