Ghandi (What Legends Are Made Of) Poem by soren Barrett

Ghandi (What Legends Are Made Of)

A Christ and a Buddha in our own time
One man against governments and religion
As close as you get to the divine
He promoted unity not division

One man that changed the world for all time
In the midst of strife
He was the conscience for all mankind
He was prepared to give his life

"I am a Muslim, and a Hindu,
and a Christian and a Jew
and so are all of you"

Nonviolence for peace he would barter
He used peace to fight violence and won
He died impoverished, as a martyr
Known as the father of India, its peaceful son
