Fabulous poem. A question I ask myself almost every single day! Thank you for expressing what so many can only roll their eyes to as if the liberation of India were only a fairy tale. Sometimes I hear a chauvinism that suggests India would have been better off ruled longer but having been there and known the spirit of her people I see no justification for such insult to her sovereignty. She embraced Britain and all British and now is the cultivator of what she feels benefits her, making mistakes at times, but not greater ones than other nations in my opinion. Best wishes, eliza
