Gaudy Roots Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Gaudy Roots

Extravagantly overdone.
Showy.
Too much glitter to dangle.
Tasteless and marinated,
In velvet, gold plated...
Pretentious gaudy roots.
With image to give it.
Hoodwinking the poop and duping.

A vaudeville traveling act.
Created to sell,
Visions from a long gone past.
Slick with hair.
Marketing snake oil as a cure.
And sold to those convinced to love,
An entertaining...
Of accepted fraud and certain death!
