Gates, Golden, Unwelcoming Still! Poem by james watkin

Gates, Golden, Unwelcoming Still!

Gates, golden, unwelcoming still!
With palace, that sits behind.
With what, to the setting distance
In sunned worlds are grape-entwined.

The lovingness, your arms enclose
Warm fortune's outer seal
More substantial these. Sweeter burst
With high living's ripe appeal.
