Gatekeepers Poem by Phillip Nine Mafunga

Gatekeepers

Rating: 5.0

Many ‘re the high walled gates
Many gated streets to success
Whose internals balloon with elitism
With gatekeepers so unyielding to the approaches of independent thought

Many gatekeepers're still oblivious
To the accessibility of knowledge outside the tradition
Papers ‘n papers all over the walls for importance's sake
Though that be good, knowledge's no longer the preserve of the chosen few

History is very good
Nevertheless, the contemporary even greater
For what I learnt yesterday's useless
Unless it evolves to relevance of the now of today

In the current's the liberty of learning what's relevant
So many of the brave've found freedom
In self-taught art n' craft way away from the gated streets
Nevertheless, I'm not against gatekeepers
