Gassed Poem by Colin Ian Jeffery

Gassed

Gassed

Poison gas was used by Germany and the allies in First
World. Started by the French and fatal for three cent of
soldiers gassed ex-soldiers suffered serious ill-effects for
the rest of their lives

Soldiers in trenches
Hear the cry ‘Gas coming'
Fearfully they pull-on gas masks
As billowing yellow green cloud
Sweeps in from no-man's land
Flooding the trenches engulfing them.

Gassed, burning throats
Eyes, acute agony going blind,
Lungs afire, struggling for breath
Fluid building with risk of drowning.
