You are right. It's awesome to get energized by playing the chess to cheer our mind up. Thank you for sharing.
The very first stanza takes you to the edge of consciousness because it borders oblivon. You have never sought inspiration so far from any common-place before. Remember the summer concert you were engaged to write your spontaneous reaction to each country group in succession? Of course you do - you told me the poems kept flowing but that was many musical groups but only one poet! That experience was the polar opposite of this one at the edgeof consciousness, in the interior world, far from people. If anything the references to chess soften this extreme experience because it suggests a social activity. But the poem is not, it's one person's encounter with interiority. Put this one with other interior poems.
