F.U. Barker Poem by D.N. Rebb

F.U. Barker

Rating: 5.0

Stolen youth, beneath future tarps
Found public peace, though not all shared
Emptiness, in memory parks
Why then the tall giraffes, were spared

F.U. Barker

The queen of the safari reigned
Early days' based education
Certain fascination remained
Now only a stipulation

F.U. Barker

Go spay n' neuter your sweet pets
Have you seen the high costs lately?
Mutts n' kittens once free to get
Now are in the thousands vaguely

F.U. Barker

Zoos should opt for tame elephants
Like they did when I was younger
Oh, this is not their element
This cold habitat, so vulgar

F.U. Barker

They were born in captivity
Scarcely know anything different
Their gig was an activity
Grandkids will never know that tent

F.U. Barker, F.U.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I know it wasn't just his fault. I understand our Canadian climate is not suitable for these large creatures. But, damn it; it would be really nice to take my grandkids somewhere to go and see some elephants.
