You have very beautifully contrasted the co-relationship that existed between the mother and the child before the childbirth and their relationship after the childbirth. But what I feel is that it is the patriarchal outlook of our society steered by the father that is responsible for this sorry state of affairs. Each of us should recognize that it is the male X, Y, chromosome that is responsible for the gender of a child.
