From The Tower Poem by Vihanga Perera

From The Tower

All the best years of our lives
Best energies and dreams
Were ill-spent writing verse for
Women who had better things to do,
While walking you

And we continue and will till
The day we rest, for today we are
What we yesterday were and tomorrow,
The same sun that sets will resurfaces:
'Cos in reality, the sun never sets.

On the wall they belong and under loaded gun,
For, women - they never love:
Animals, fit to sleep with dogs
Flirting with the helplessness of a
Throbbing heart, that's alive,

Which is the problem and once the
Fire's lit after daunting labour,
Your meal runs cold and she's trotted off easy -
At least we know Newton's a fake
With his Gravitation theory and a piece of cake.

Novel way of looking at things such as 'Sun never set and woman they never love' Good poem though bit difficult to know the theme at first.
