From The Desk Of The Heart Poem by Ekwueme Kelechi

From The Desk Of The Heart

When the pen refuses
To write
When the ink disobeys
The god
The heart will write

She will write of those memories
Of love
That lay lifeless
In the tomb of the mind

She will write to express
What love really is
To describe her
Facial outlook and outfit

Dear young futures
I promise
To protect you
From these arrows
Of the day

Your life is precious
To me
I promise
I got your back
I can't wait to see you
Show the might of your legs
To the ants

I can't wait to see your beak
Conquer the challenges
Of life
No, I can't wait
To behold the might
Of your union

Love is no-thing
When it comes to sacrifice
It can drink the cup of pain
To see the glimpse of joy

She's the one
Whose tender hands
Can pick up risk
And make jest of it
When the world fail you
Remember my hands of love

When before you
All seems to crumble
Remember the sacrifice I made
The pains I sold to the day
Before the fierce gong of life
Remember, a heart will never give up on you
