(An email from my friend, Windy)
Dear William:
I had a most touching experience today. I was on my bike at the park today and as I rode past a garbage can I heard a noise. I cycled past and my inner voice told me to go back. As I approached the can – the noise got louder. I lifted the loose lid and carefully peaked in, being apprehensive at what I might see or what might come out at me...seeing nothing I began emptying the can’s plastic bag, and at the bottom was this beautiful yellow bird that had somehow gotten stuck and couldn't get out.
As I set it free - tears came to my eyes, I was so happy to have been apart of this bird’s freedom.
(MY RESPONSE)
Dear Windy:
Thus, you save a beautiful yellow bird
from the dark deadly grip of garbage bin
giving its feathers an opening of light
so it may again take flight
to grace our living place with beauty and song
By being awake - you heard its fluttering plea
to be free
and reached down from above
to release it from its prison of dark debris
