(free Verse)* Royal... A Budgie
We have a new budgie.Royal has been with us
for about two months.He has the run of the condo
and he landed on my captain's hat and hung down
from the peak and looked me in the eye.
I looked up and said: "Whatcha doin? "Now as
I said he's not that old and his reply was not
quite correct.
What he said was: "What's it to ya? "
I didn't have the heart to correct him.

Write! This was a singular moment. None of my budgies spoke. But I was in your moment. Now it is mine.
The comment was speculative but the action actual he is a lovely bird and is called " Royal Two"
He knew what you said. He wasn't trying to repeat; he was just giving a smart-Alec reply!
