While some are committed to strengthening ties and spreading universal brotherhood, unfortunately it is saddening to note that there are others bent upon dividing humanity on the basis of frivolus caste, creed and colour. Ancient India did give very lofty ideals to the world like Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam and Ahimsa (popularised more by Buddha) . A world fragmented by national pride and egos, class, religion, ideologies etc finds it difficult to put these in practice. Ideals, like the Pole star, are needed to guide and show what is possible.
