Sometimes I dream of you,
And my heart cannot see the light.
Lost for a moment in the darkness
that was us --- trapped again
In the web that was your lies.
And as I lay dreaming,
It seems like days of old,
Beautiful for just a second, until it creeps up on me.
It's ONLY a dream; it isn't real ---
Just like the illusion that was you.
I awaken, heart pounding,
Feeling scared because I slipped back again...
To that place I lived when there was you ----
With your lying, betraying, hurting, and slaying,
All of it dressed up so fancy in an illusion of jewels and gold.
For now I know you didn't deserve us.
You held that beauty in the palm of your hand,
And you so carelessly crushed it.
It was YOUR world you destroyed, not ours;
Darkness cannot destruct true love.
So for now we live free...
Free from your lies that wounded,
Free from your betrayal that broke hearts.
Free to live another day
Secure in our world no longer tarnished by you.
